These features are critical for managing complex projects and gaining a high-level overview of how aligned initiatives are progressing. Limited Project features: Todoist lacks the ability to divide projects into stages, milestones, timeline view, and portfolio view.Though todoist has a productivity score there is no option to look at the in-depth data or create customizable charts. After all, reports reflect the progress made, goals accomplished, and help you analyze if you are on the right track. No reporting features: Reporting is the most important feature of any project or task management tool.Unfortunately, this critical ability is missing from Todoist. They should be able to slice and dice their data to understand it in a better way. No Search Views: Probably the biggest pain point for teams. Thus, it is important to have tools like SmartTask that organize teams based on hierarchies ( departments >projects >tasks), making it easy for team members to navigate and conduct work. But for teams, a flat structure can become very complex. No Hierarchy: Todoist does not have a proper hierarchy like departments and then teams under it, which may be okay for solo users. However, Todoist lacks essential team features like dedicated chat, video conferencing, and news feed. Not built for Teams: Being able to communicate and collaborate on tasks within the tool is critical for teams. For example, there is no way to add data through custom fields such as dropdowns, text, number, or date fields. It's just a Todo-list: Todoist does not have the ability to customize or add more dimensions to tasks. However, Todoist lacks these critical components to create a better workspace and increase productivity. Lacks Critical Views: Customizations, user-wise task bifurcation, filters, and views such as task, timeline, and portfolio view allow users to modify the tool to fit their individual or business preferences. So, what are the disadvantages of using Todoist? It does not have the basic tools needed to streamline tasks and communication when it comes to teams or complex projects. However, it misses out big time on team collaboration features. That’s why it has over 10 million installs on mobile app stores and is one of the highest-rated mobile apps. It is simple, straightforward, and keeps things organized for you - be it a grocery or a shopping list. Read More.Todoist is one of the best personal to-do list apps out there. I really like that you can color coded the tags and projects. I don't really have anything negative to say about this, but I do think it would be best for single or small team use over larger teams. I wish there were more themes available, but what is there isn't too bad and I'm glad there's more than just 1 light/1 dark theme. Personally, I prefer less complexity and feel like, after a certain point, most people really don't need tons of extra features and would be better off learning to simplify anyway. Overall: This is really easy to use, it looks nice, and it's pretty straight forward. It's pretty simplistic, so if you need something with a lot of complex options, this might not be the app for your team. Adding someone else to your project is easy.Ĭons: I'd personally like more theme options, in particular dark theme options, but that's not really a big negative. You can add named and color coded labels to task, keep up with productivity information, add filters, use boards, and have multiple projects going at once. There's a couple of theme choices, including a dark mode. Pros: You can use this as a simple to do list for personal usage or as project management for a team. I am able to track the progress of the tasks in real time to track my employees' productivity. It has increased the efficiency of communication with my staff by allowing me to set tasks, explain them in the description, and set a priority level. Overall: This program has made delegating tasks to employees working from home simple and effective. One suggestion would be to display a list of completed items after the task is checked off the list. It does have a very short learning curve but after a couple short youtube videos, I was up to speed right away. They are able to see their work, the priority of each task, and mark the stage of completion.Ĭons: The program is very simple to use. This program has been extremely beneficial for assigning tasks virtually to employees who work from home. It automates the task of setting priority levels, due dates and assignment of that task to employees by using shortcuts and keywords. The program makes it as simple as typing a task and clicking a button. It is very easy to navigate and to set tasks. Pros: This product is extremely simple to use.
