8, 2012) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Juan Manuel Marquez, the fourth installment of which goes down this weekend (Sat., Dec. I think Marquez deserved that indisputable win after coming just short three times.Fight fans would be hard-pressed to find a more hotly-contested and hotly-debated series in boxing than Manny Pacquiao vs. Great fight for Marquez, and while he was roided, Pacquaio probably was too. No knockdowns this time but a clear victory in my view, I can't see what the big fuss was about in this fight.Ĥ: Pacquaio Marquez 4 would have been a blowout for Pacquaio, he was outlanding Marquez at a proportion never before but Marquez just knocked him out cold. In terms of power punches landed, according to CompuBox statistics, Pacquiao outlanded Marquez in eight of the rounds. Marquez outlanded Pacquiao in just one round (the eighth), and they landed an equal number of punches in two rounds (the third and ninth). 3: Pacquiao outlanded Marquez in nine rounds. So Pacquaio both outlanded Marquez by rounds and scored a knockdown, so I scored it for Pacquauio. Punch statistics showed that Pacquiao outlanded Marquez in six rounds, Marquez outlanded Pacquiao in five rounds, and the two landed evenly in one round-the third round, in which Pacquiao sent Marquez to the canvas. The punch stats can also be a useful aid, Marquez outlanded Pacquaio by a decent amount but it's scored on a rounds basis, by which Pacquaio won, including the knockdowns.Ģ: Pacquaio wins again. I gave Pacquaio rounds 1, 2, 10, 12, giving him a slight lead for a victory. I scored it the first three fights for Manny, fourth obviously Marquez.ġ: Marquez's first round cost him the fight, the one judge didn't know he could score a round 6 points for Marquez and that's why they had they scored it a draw. TL DR: Who in your opinion won out of the 4 fights? Everyone has a different opinion with how the fight played out, how did you score it? A 5th fight could conclude who is ultimately better from those two. It has everything, drama, knockouts and a dramatic ending.Ĭonclusion: In the end of the 4 fights, I had it 2 - 2 a draw. If there was one fight you had to introduce to anyone who isn't familiar with boxing, this is the fight to pick. Pacquiao was aggressive throughout the fight and kept the pressure coming, despite him being outlanded in some parts of the fight, Pacquiao's relentless pressure got him the victory. This was another chess match, each round was very close but Marquez was not busy enough to keep Pacquiao at bay nor did he throw enough to stay in the lead. Manny Pacquiao Vs Juan Manuel Marquez III This fight could have ended in a draw if it wasn't for Marquez being floored in the 3rd round. Both had a lot to prove in this fight, and whoa! What a chess match. This was arguably the most intense out of all of four fights. Marquez was floored three times in the first round! Marquez was not expecting that kind of work rate Pacquiao was bringing, however, Marquez adjusted and got better of Pacquiao for the next 11 rounds I believe. I took out a sheet and judged all four fights my score cards for fight 1,2,3 and 4 were: Each and every one of their fights was highly regarded as action packed and technical. Arguably the Marquez vs Pacquiao fights have not only been entertaining but also regarded as a chess match. The mega fight is only a little over a month away so I decided to go back and watch both their fights.
